Proximity to the public and a focus on the security needs of citizens are indisputably the key assessment factors for the performance of the police. Not least through active press coverage, it strengthens people's trust in professional police work.
Press work
One of the main information tools of press work is the press report, which is produced almost daily.
Other important tasks are:
- Exchange of information and cooperation with the media
- Evaluating police incidents and general police topics with regard to their relevance to the media
- Processing media enquiries
- Exchange of information and cooperation with other departments, in particular police press offices and press offices of other authorities (e.g. public prosecutor's office, fire department)
- Supporting journalists, organizing press conferences
- Interviews for television and radio
- Development of own press campaigns
- Internet presence
- Media evaluation
Public relations
In order to gain the trust of the public, the Olpe police provide insight into their work and organization in a variety of ways in the area of public relations. It communicates police issues to the public, organizes high-profile projects and events and has an Internet presence.
There is also a lot of interest in our profession. Information about our authority, the people who work here and how we work is in demand. With our public relations work, we provide a look behind the scenes as well as personal impressions for groups of visitors and trainees.
The press office of the Olpe district police authority
Chief Superintendent Thorsten Scheen is the press spokesman for the Olpe district police authority and the contact person for press inquiries and information.
He is also responsible for public relations. In his absence, he is deputized by Chief Superintendent Marion Kaufmann.
Office hours:
Monday and Tuesday: 07:00 - 16:00
Wednesday to Friday: 07:00 - 15:30
Outside of these hours, press work is handled by the control center of the police department.
