Accident-free and well-equipped for the motorcycle season #LIVE
It will soon be time to hit the roads again. Some bikers are already developing "spring fever" in view of the current mild weather and are starting to wake their motorized two-wheelers from hibernation.
A recent motorcycle accident
This is what an elderly gentleman thought yesterday afternoon.
He was riding his new motorcycle in the district. Because the traffic was jammed, the car in front of him had to brake. The senior also braked, but so hard that the front tire of his two-wheeler turned sideways.
As a result, he crashed and fortunately only suffered minor injuries.
What should you look out for at the start of the motorcycle season?
At this point, we would like to emphasize once again how important it is to start the motorcycle season well prepared.
When you get your bike out of the garage again after the winter break, you should ask yourself: What should I look out for before the first ride?
In addition to a motorcycle check, it is also important to wear comprehensive protective clothing. This also applies to short trips.
Riding training can also help you to regain more safety, on the road.
The motorcycle check includes the following to-do's:
- Check engine oil level
- Check fluid levels
- Check battery
- Check tire pressure
- Test brakes
- Test indicators, lights, brake lights and horn
So with a roadworthy motorcycle and good protective clothing, nothing stands in the way of the start of a new season.
Or is there anything else we should pay attention to?
#LIFE
We think #LIFE should also be the focus. #LEBEN is the trademark of the NRW police in the new specialist strategy for traffic. The aim of the specialist strategy is to reduce serious or even fatal traffic accidents. Especially in connection with the increasing number of bikers on the road, we ask all road users to be considerate of each other and drive with increased attention. Adapt your speed to your riding ability, the weather and of course the applicable speed limits.
