During his time in Oberhausen, Alexander Dierselhuis got to know the special "Ruhrpott charm" of the people of this region: honest, direct, down-to-earth. He remained close to these people when he was appointed Duisburg's police chief in 2022.
Here, Alexander Dierselhuis, together with around 1,800 employees, is responsible for security in the coal and steel city with its 500,000 inhabitants as well as on the 900 kilometers of navigable waterways in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Duisburg police face these challenges together with other authorities and organizations that perform public order and security tasks. Numerous public order partnerships, network partnerships and the two police councils, which represent a political link between the district police authority and the population, and ensure an exchange of interests and information between the waterway police and inland navigation, help in this regard.
