Youth crime in a two-year comparison
The number of suspects under the age of 21 for typical juvenile offenses such as theft, assault, damage to property and robbery has risen. The number of suspects under the age of 21 for offenses under the Narcotics Act (drug-related crime) is declining.
The total number of suspects under the age of 21 increased by 19.3% from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 85,948; 2022: 102,570)
Crimes committed using the internet
In relation to suspects under the age of 21, offences committed using the internet increased by 35.4% from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 8,147; 2022: 11,035).
Crimes against sexual self-determination
The number of under 21-year-olds suspected of a crime against sexual self-determination rose by 10.8% from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 8,555; 2022: 9,476).
The increases are particularly in the areas of distribution, acquisition, possession and production of child and youth pornography.
Crimes against the Weapons Act
The number of suspects under the age of 21 for offenses against the Weapons Act increased by 16.4 percent from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 1,210; 2022: 1,409)
Crime in the school context
The number of suspects under the age of 21 for crimes committed in a school context rose by 136.1 percent from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 2,563; 2022: 6,052)
Youth endangerment - victims under the age of 21
The number of victims under the age of 21 increased by 28.0 percent from 2021 to 2022 (2021: 54,156; 2022: 69,304).
Victims under the age of 21 for selected offenses
The number of victims of child abuse rose by 2.9 percent (2021: 1,019; 2022: 1,049). The number of victims of child sexual abuse fell by 2.9 percent (2021: 4,710; 2002: 4,572) and the number of victims of sexual abuse of adolescents fell by 12.9 percent (2021: 417; 2022: 363).
