It's still dark on the way to school in the morning. It's time for Radio Duisburg to draw attention to the fact that children in particular should be more visible in the darker months of the year. Dark clothing is better left in the cupboard. The children at Marienstraße elementary school in Homberg know this too. On Tuesday (October 17), the first-graders were able to explain to radio presenter Nils Halberscheidt and us exactly how to cross the road correctly, the dangers posed by the many cars on Duisburg's roads and, of course, that reflectors on your clothing make you much more visible.
Normally, the police are the star of the day at elementary school. On Tuesday, however, it was clearly the life-size Emil who visited the children at school. The children would have loved to keep Emil around. But because Emil will be visiting other elementary school in NRW, all first-graders were given a small reflective moose - as a memento of the great surprise and, of course, to make them easier to see in the dark.
