LAFP NRW
The image alone - an orchestra dressed in dark blue police uniforms - is something special. The music anyway. As the representative orchestra of the NRW state government, the NRW State Police Orchestra (LPO NRW) is part of the public relations work of the NRW police. It consists of 45 trained professional musicians and represents the NRW police in a special way.
At around 160 events a year, the musicians of the LPO accompany, for example, police recruitment events, benefit concerts, receptions of various authorities and associations, readings, workshops or open days.
Thanks to its diverse repertoire, high level of professionalism and special proximity to the audience, the LPO NRW supports the police authorities in their public relations work. It uses music as a unifying medium to promote confidence-building and the communication of police concerns in a target group-oriented manner. The special connection that music makes possible is also reflected in the composition of the orchestra: musicians from nine nations are now members of the LPO NRW.
And not all orchestras are the same: in addition to the large symphonic line-up, the LPO NRW also includes several musically specialized ensembles. They cater to every taste, from classical to modern and from jazz to hip-hop.
The professional and versatile musical performances are led by two people: the renowned US conductor Scott Lawton and the award-winning guitarist, composer and arranger Hans Steinmeier. With their many years of experience and wide range of activities, they help the LPO NRW to achieve outstanding musical quality.
Professional music does not make itself: The musicians prepare intensively for their performances in their own rooms or the large rehearsal hall. These are located in Hagen at the LAFP NRW (State Office for Training, Further Education and Personnel Affairs of the NRW Police), to which the LPO NRW is also organizationally affiliated.
